The multifunctional supply ship “Katherine the Great” caught fire in the Primorye region of the Russian Federation . The ship left the shipyard only three years ago.
The Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation reported that a fire on a ship at the Dalzavod Ship Repair Center occurred on the night of April 8. As a result of the incident, one person died and three more were hospitalized.
“Currently, law enforcement agencies are carrying out verification activities aimed at establishing the circumstances of the incident,” the Russian prosecutor’s office said in a message on Telegram.

The vessel “Katerina the Great” belongs to the IBSV 10022 AH project. This ship is unique because it can both deliver cargo, in particular offshore drilling rigs and production platforms, and conduct icebreaking operations. This ship was the pride of Russia.
