The architectural monument offers a panoramic view of the port and the Odessa Bay.

In the center of Odessa, the famous Potemkin Stairs and two parks, which have been closed for security reasons since February 2022 due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, will be opened to the public.

According to the press service of the city hall, Istanbul and Greek parks will be open to the public in Odessa from April 20. It is noted that utility workers have already carried out sanitary cleaning of the territories, pruning trees, planting flowers and green spaces. Park furniture was repaired, the outdoor lighting system and fountains were checked, and children’s playgrounds were prepared.

“Last year, Primorsky Boulevard was opened to the public – the most favorite walking place for Odessa residents and guests of our city. Today we have approval from the military administration and are preparing the Istanbul and Greek parks for the opening. This became possible thanks to our military – the courageous and brave guards of our city” , said mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

He also thanked the countries that first made efforts to ensure that these parks appeared in Odessa, and today are providing comprehensive assistance to protect the city from the enemy.

In addition, the legendary Potemkin Stairs will be open to Odessa residents and guests of the city. At the same time, Primorskaya Street, which runs under the indicated places, is open exclusively to transport – pedestrian traffic is prohibited.

The above-mentioned parks and the Potemkin Stairs, which are an architectural monument of the first half of the 19th century and one of the main attractions of the city, are located above the waters of the Odessa Bay (above the Black Sea). In particular, from the top staircase there is a wide panorama of the seaport, harbor and Odessa Bay.

Other Odessa news

On April 15, it became known that in Odessa, due to the approach of summer, they decided to extend the time for the sale of alcoholic beverages by one hour – until 23.00 – and they plan to officially open some beaches . At the corresponding meeting, they also discussed the possibility of holding a health season in Odessa, in particular the provision of services in the coastal zone.

Following the example of last year, it was proposed to ensure the operation of several beaches in the city, where the seabed will be surveyed and cleaned of debris, and the water area will also be constantly monitored for mine safety.

  1. I’d like to walk them again. In peace, please God.
There is a liman in Odesa with warm, salty springs, which is claimed to have many health benefits. It would be nice to go there. I believe there is a network of health resorts there. Not much info on the net though.
