Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters on Thursday, May 14, where he adopted a report on the consequences of the latest Russian attack. According to him, the enemy had been accumulating drones and missiles for some time and deliberately calculated the strike to overload Ukrainian air defenses.
He announced this on his Telegram channel. He also instructed the Ukrainian army to prepare a response plan for another Russian treachery.
What is known
According to Zelensky, in total, in the waves of massive attacks on May 13 and 14, the Russians used 1,567 UAVs and 56 missiles of various types.
“Our drone shootdown rate was 94%. Our missile shootdown rate was 73%. The key challenge is ballistics and covering thousands of rear infrastructure facilities and our cities.
The headquarters also discussed the current needs of Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners and increased supplies, in particular of radars. Other reports concerned the consequences of attacks on Ukrainian regions.
“Currently, search and rescue operations are still underway in Kyiv at the site of the collapse of the entrance to a residential building, which was practically demolished from the 1st to the 9th floor due to this Russian attack. The fate of almost 20 people who could have been in this building is unknown. As of now, seven people are known to have died and 39 injured in Kyiv alone. All necessary forces of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the National Police, municipal and medical services have been involved,” the head of state summarizes, adding that he instructed the Ukrainian army and special services to propose possible formats for responding to the latest enemy attack.
Russian strike on Ukraine on May 14
On May 14, the Russian army launched numerous strikes on the civilian infrastructure of Kyiv. As a result of enemy shelling in the Darnytskyi district of the capital, a multi-story residential building was hit. As a result of the strike, part of the building was destroyed, and rescuers are searching for people under the rubble.
According to the Air Force, during the strike, the Russian army used 731 means of destruction. Ukrainian anti-aircraft guns managed to intercept and destroy 693 enemy targets.
In Ivano-Frankivsk, during a Russian attack, a drone hit a residential building on Konovalets Street, causing a fire. Nine people were injured: three of them were taken to the hospital, six refused hospitalization.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that on Wednesday, May 13, Russian occupation forces attacked the Smilian community in Cherkasy region with drones. As a result of the attack, three people were injured and taken to the hospital.
