The Patriot battery donated by Germany has already shot down 18 Russian aircraft, – Thomas Thaner

One of the batteries of the American Patriot air defense system transferred to Ukraine by Western partners has already shot down 18 Russian planes and helicopters. Germany handed it over to our defenders.

This was reported by Italian military expert Thomas Thaner. Thus, he commented on the destruction of two more enemy aircraft on February 19.

“The Patriot battery donated by Germany worked again. The battery commander said that they like launchers mounted on tractors because they allow them to actively move, shoot and disappear when missiles hit Russian aircraft,” the expert noted.

According to his information, with the help of Patriot the following were shot down:

  • Mi-8 – 3;
  • Su-24 – 1;
  • Su-34 – 9;
  • Su-35 – 3;
  • A-50 – 1;
  • Il-22M – 1 (damaged).

Thaner added that if the Ukrainian military received five more Patriot batteries, they could shut down all Russian aviation within a 150 km radius of Ukraine.

“But for this they need batteries with launchers on trucks, not on trailers,” said an Italian military expert.

It was previously reported that on February 19, powerful explosions occurred near temporarily occupied Mariupol, Donetsk region, after which a fire started. The invaders claimed to have shot down an “enemy missile,” but local residents allowed the Russian plane to crash.

Let us remind you that on the morning of February 18, Ukrainian soldiers landed another enemy military aircraft. The Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber was destroyed.

As OBOZ.UA reported, on the morning of February 17, Ukrainian soldiers in eastern Ukraine destroyed three enemy aircraft at once. Two Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 multirole fighter of the Russian army were flying away.

  1. That was a good investment!
    Quite clearly, everyone should follow Denmark’s example and hand over all artillery systems to Ukraine. More! They should send all tanks, ammo, missiles, air defense systems and everything else to Ukraine. After all, it’s Ukraine that is also fighting for THEIR security.

  2. Germany’s Bundeswehr doesn’t have many of those Patriot batteries, and none of the brand new Iris-T yet, but it makes me proud that my country donated two Patriot systems and 3 Iris-T Systems to Ukraine, a friendly democracy under attack. As Mr. Ofp stated above, that was a good investment, because it safeguards fellow European people from the terror strikes of the Putin regime and helps to fight back against the horrible aggression that threatens not only Ukraine, but the whole EU. I’m enthusiastic that AFU soldiers have put these donations to such excellent use and wish them more good hunting. Slava Ukraini!

    • That’s right, Mr. Gray, Ukrainians have put everything to good use that they’ve received for their friends.
