He emphasizes that the rights of Russian prisoners of war are ensured in Ukraine, and wonders when Ukraine will be able to achieve the same from Russia for Ukrainian prisoners of war.
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Lubinets, notes that Russian prisoners of war in the West 2 camp made more than 300 phone calls to loved ones.
He wrote about this in his Telegram channel. “Russian prisoners of war in the West 2 camp made 314 telephone calls to loved ones. And also, with the assistance of the ICRC, they sent more than 200 letters. This figure has been during the operation of the camp: since November 2023,” the ombudsman emphasized .
He said that recently employees of their Office and members of the public visited West 2.
“The NPM group conducted a survey of Russian prisoners of war: there were no complaints about conditions of detention, torture, or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment,” Lubinets noted.
Thus, he emphasized, the camp fully complied with the requirements of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, and ensured all the rights of Russian prisoners of war.
The Commissioner recalled that earlier, together with the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey, they visited another camp for holding prisoners of war – “West 1”, where all the norms of the Geneva Conventions are also observed.
“The rights of Russian prisoners of war are ensured in Ukraine. When will we be able to ensure that the Russian Federation respects the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war?” Lubinets emphasized.

It’s just too bad that Ukraine must adhere to human rights due to its wobbly allies. Seeing the conditions the roaches get to live in compared to Ukrainians POWs, it makes you want to explode with anger. I would let the roaches fester in dark and dank basements on bread and water and plenty of labor, rebuilding the destruction they and their fellow cockroaches have done and are doing daily.
