The family followed the “two walls” rule, which probably saved people’s lives, as the building was completely destroyed.

At night, the Russian occupiers carried out a massive drone strike on Odessa , several fires broke out, and several people were injured.

As UNIAN was told by Iryna Kovalenko, a spokeswoman for the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on April 16, the Russian army attacked the city’s civilian infrastructure with strike drones, and three people were injured in the night attack.

“Two men and a woman were injured: a 66-year-old man with shrapnel wounds and a fracture was hospitalized, the others were provided with medical assistance on the spot. Private residential buildings, warehouses of civilian enterprises, a pharmacy, a church, and cars were damaged,” Kovalenko commented.

According to her, a full list of destruction and damage is currently being established. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the attacks. Further investigation will be carried out by investigators of the SBU Department in the Odessa region. Currently, a pre-trial investigation into the facts of war crimes has been launched under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor’s office (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The regional headquarters of the State Emergency Service said that due to the massive attack, fires broke out at several addresses, residential buildings burned, and warehouse buildings were damaged.

“In one of the residential buildings, the family followed the “two walls” rule, which probably saved their lives, because the building was completely destroyed,” the rescuers said.

More than fifty firefighters and 17 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences, including two from the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Ukraine.
