The occupiers in the Pokrovsky direction are increasingly refusing to use armored vehicles: a military spoke about the enemy’s tactics

Russian troops in the Pokrovsky direction are changing tactics due to significant losses of armored vehicles. The occupiers are increasingly using infantry fighting vehicles and tanks, trying to advance in small infantry groups or alone.

To do this, they use difficult weather conditions and camouflage, but the Ukrainian military records such attempts in advance. This was reported on the air of “Social. Studio” on January 12 by Yulia Stepaniuk, head of the communications department of the 117th separate heavy mechanized brigade.

According to her, Russian units are trying to take advantage of fog, snow, and strong winds to advance imperceptibly towards Ukrainian positions.

The servicewoman noted that the occupiers are increasingly abandoning reconnaissance drones due to poor visibility and instead using Mavic-type quadcopters for close surveillance. The main focus is on small infantry groups – from one to four or five people, who move separately and try not to accumulate on the ground.

According to Stepaniuk, Russian military personnel use white camouflage suits and move mainly in the snow, choosing areas with a darker background or changing camouflage. At the same time, such suits often have thermal imaging effects, which allows Ukrainian UAV operators to detect them in advance.

Ukrainian military personnel have almost never seen mechanized vehicles directly on the front lines. Deep inside the Russian rear, only a few buggies, motorcycles, and rare infantry fighting vehicles have been observed, which the enemy uses mostly for logistical purposes.

This equipment is not suitable for assaults, as it is quickly destroyed on the approaches.

Instead, the Russian army is actively using FPV drones and kamikaze drones, trying to compensate for the losses of armored vehicles. As Yulia Stepaniuk noted, the scale of losses in this direction is so significant that the use of equipment has become impractical for the occupiers.

“They are using much more kamikaze drones now, there are a lot of them, and with this, let’s say, they are somehow partially covering the loss of equipment that was in this direction. Because it is quite large, and they understand that there is no point in introducing equipment there, because it is immediately visible, and it is immediately destroyed on the approaches,” the military woman said.

Also, according to the spokeswoman, there is currently no long-term accumulation of enemy manpower. That is why Russian troops are forced to operate in small groups, demonstrating minimal activity and trying to simulate movement on individual sections of the front.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that Ukrainian attack aircraft stopped the enemy’s maneuver in Pokrovsk. The 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped the covert advance of more than 20 Russians in the northern part of the city.

And soldiers of the 155th Motorized Rifle Brigade burned down a column of invaders near Pokrovsk. The Russians had hoped to enter the city from midnight until dawn, but they were defeated 6-7 km from the line of combat contact.

Yet, the potato generals are trying it anyway, time and again.
