Intense fighting continues in southern Ukraine — the Russian army has intensified assaults in the direction of Hulyaipol and Stepnohirsk. The enemy is trying to enter settlements in small groups and gain a foothold in urban areas. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are blocking these actions and destroying the enemy on the approaches.
This was reported to Ukrinform by Vladislav Voloshyn, a representative of the Southern Defense Forces. He spoke about the current situation and the tactics used by Russian units in this direction.
According to Voloshyn, in Hulyaipol itself, fighting is taking place mainly on the eastern and northeastern outskirts of the city. Russian troops are trying to penetrate the city limits with assault groups, despite significant losses. The Ukrainian defense forces are destroying the enemy, blocking his actions and preventing him from advancing.
The speaker noted that the enemy is actively using infiltration tactics — attempts to quietly enter the city and gain a foothold in individual buildings. Currently, only isolated pockets are being recorded where Russian military personnel are trying to hold out, but Ukrainian units are conducting reconnaissance, search and assault operations, knocking them out of positions. The enemy is unable to gain a foothold in the city. A similar situation persists near Stepnohirsk , where the enemy is blocked even on the approaches to the village. As Voloshyn specified, despite the difficult situation, Hulyaipole remains under full control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, and dozens of combat clashes were recorded in the south in just 24 hours.
OBOZ.UA previously reported that in the Hulyaipil direction, Russian occupiers attempted to penetrate the rear of Ukrainian troops, hiding under civilian clothes. They hoped to use the difficult weather to bypass the positions, but were spotted by Ukrainian border guards.
