The destruction underscores the scorched-earth tactics Russia has employed during more than two years of war.

The city of Chasiv Yar , which was stormed and shelled by the occupying forces for months, today resembles the ruins of occupied Bakhmut and Avdiyivka.

The  Associated Press  published footage of a new drone recording. They show large-scale destruction in Chasovoy Yar, where there is almost no whole building, and houses and municipal institutions are charred. Due to the actions of the Russian Federation, the city, in which 12,000 people once lived, became practically deserted.

“The strategically important city has been under attack by Russian troops for several months. Its capture will give Russia control over the top of the hill, from which it can attack other cities that make up the backbone of Ukraine’s eastern defense,” the publication noted.

In the video, you can see that the rows of high-rise buildings in Chasovoy Yar were blackened by the explosions. The golden dome of the church remained intact, but the building itself was badly damaged.

Battles for Chasiv Yar

As UNIAN reported, according to the analyst and co-founder of DeepState Roman Pohorily, the Ukrainian army  managed to stabilize the situation  in the area of ​​Chasovoy Yar, but the situation may change. 

The spokesman of the “Khortytsia” OSU Nazar Voloshyn reported that  the situation around the city of Chasiv Yar is difficult , but under control.

He also said that the Russian occupiers, in order to take  Chasiv Yar  “in a vice”, are trying to bypass the city through the outskirts, and are also actively firing artillery and mortars.
