The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation recognized the crash of a Tu-22M3 military aircraft of the VKS in the Stavropol Territory.
As RosSMI reported , citing a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the missile-carrying bomber crashed “after completing a combat mission while returning to its home airfield.”
“The pilots ejected, 3 crew members were evacuated by the search and rescue team, and the search for one pilot is currently ongoing,” the department noted.
The Ministry of Defense assures that there was no ammunition on board, the plane crashed in a deserted area, and there was no damage on the ground. According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction.

Yup, it’s not really surprising that a jet engine fails when missile fragments slam into it. Or that a wing seperates when an explosion rips through the spars. That’s what Kremlin propagandists call “technical malfunction”. I guess the guys working at MiG aren’t really happy about that.
