The Netherlands intends to increase financial support to Ukraine in the energy sector before the onset of winter.

This was stated by Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof during a joint press conference with the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing countries and the NATO Secretary General, Ukrinform reports , Censor.NET reports.

Increasing economic pressure on the Russian Federation

“We see that Russia is the only party that rejects the ceasefire, bypasses all diplomatic initiatives and continues to attack Ukraine. The only way to convince Putin to start serious negotiations is to increase economic pressure on Russia and our support for Ukraine,” the head of the Dutch government said.

The need to support Ukraine

Schoof emphasized that support for Ukraine is crucial, and all countries must contribute.

In particular, he called for increased energy assistance to Ukraine “to help Ukrainians survive the winter.”

“We are very concerned about Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure before the onset of winter. The domestic and production costs of recovery are high. Therefore, the Netherlands will increase financial support in the energy sector, and we call on all partners to also consider increasing their contributions,” the Dutch Prime Minister said.
