According to the Dutch Minister of Defense, the war in Ukraine is intensifying every day.

Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said his country would spend 400 million euros to develop advanced drones with Ukraine and would hand over more F-16 fighter jets in the near future, he told Reuters during a visit to Kyiv.

“The war, of course, is intensifying every day, and Ukraine is creating more and more brigades that need support, that need military equipment. We need to have this continuous flow of support,” the politician noted.

Brekelmans added that the UAV action plan will combine Ukrainian innovation and Dutch knowledge to improve the technology used on the front lines.

“We will focus on different types of drones, that is, both reconnaissance, more defensive, and attack drones, because we see that Ukraine needs more offensive drones to attack military targets,” the Dutch Defense Minister emphasized.

According to him, approximately half of the investments will be spent in the Netherlands, and the remaining funds will be distributed between Ukraine and other countries.

Brekelmans added that if the developed drones are successful, more funding will be available to expand production.

“Since the start of the Russian invasion, the Netherlands has pledged 10 billion euros in military support for Ukraine and has spent about 4 billion euros to date,” Reuters recalled.
