The Netherlands advocates the need to increase pressure on Russia.

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Yetten has announced the allocation of an additional 500 million euros for military support for Ukraine. Separately, the Dutch government will provide Kyiv with another 1.2 billion euros for other types of assistance over the next three years. As an UNIAN correspondent reports, Yetten said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in The Hague.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands assured that his country will continue to resolutely and unwaveringly support Ukraine politically and legally, through humanitarian and military means.

In particular, Yetten noted that today in Kyiv, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjørd Sjørdsma announced that over the next three years, Ukraine will receive a total of 1.2 billion euros in assistance. The funds will be used to meet Ukraine’s energy needs, humanitarian aid, drinking water, health care, and demining.

“Today I can also announce an additional military aid package worth 500 million euros. The package includes air defense assets and drones designed to protect against continuous Russian air attacks,” Yetten emphasized.

Support for Ukraine is extremely relevant right now

He added that this support for Ukraine is urgently needed now, as reality shows that Russia has intensified attacks on civilian objects and critical infrastructure. More and more civilians are dying from Russian attacks. And on the eve of winter, Russian attacks create additional difficulties and challenges for the Ukrainian population.

“It is now clear that Russia’s strategy is to deliberately sow death and destruction. There are currently no signs of Russia’s readiness to stop this terror. Russia hopes to break Ukraine, its fighting spirit, society and economy, but it will not succeed, primarily due to the extraordinary courage and indomitability, the resilience of the Ukrainians themselves,” Yetten noted.

He added that we must continue to realize that continued support from allies for Ukraine is crucial. Therefore, this support must be strengthened and more must be done for Ukraine.

“I call on all allies to do whatever is necessary to help Ukraine right now. Now is the time to act decisively and proactively,” said Yetten.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands also welcomes any efforts that can contribute to achieving a sustainable and just peace for Ukraine.

“The Netherlands highly appreciates the efforts being made through various diplomatic channels to strengthen pressure on Russia. In particular, the telephone conversation that our colleagues Støre and Stubb had with Putin. During this conversation, they emphasized the importance of de-escalation, concrete steps towards the start of negotiations, as well as the importance of achieving progress during the talks planned for next month in Abu Dhabi. The Netherlands fully shares this position,” said Yetten.
