Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters , the main topic of which was “deep strikes” – long-range strikes that reduce Russia’s military potential. The meeting was attended by Ukrainian weapons manufacturers and military intelligence services.
The head of state said this in an evening video address on October 15. According to him, the main task is to scale up the capabilities of Ukrainian “long-range sanctions.”
About the meeting of the State Council on October 15
“I held a Headquarters meeting. Several topics, but the most important one is deep strikes, our long-range capability. Something that really affects Russia’s war potential and significantly reduces it. Today, both the manufacturers of our respective weapons were at the Headquarters, as well as those who use these weapons – the Armed Forces, special services, intelligence. The main task is to scale our capabilities for long-range Ukrainian sanctions. There is potential for this. And a joint conversation of all of us together helps a lot,” Zelenskyy said.
Preparing for the meeting with Trump
Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian side has already prepared the military and economic parts of the agenda before the meeting with US President Donald Trump. He called the upcoming talks meaningful and stressed that they could bring the end of the war closer.
“We have already prepared our part of the homework before the meeting with President Trump – the military part, and also our economic part. All the details, everything is there. The agenda of our meeting with the President of America is very meaningful, and I thank everyone who is helping. This can really bring the end of the war closer – it is the United States that has the ability to have such global influence, and we are doing everything to ensure that others in the world are on the same side with us in this work ,” he noted.
The Ukrainian government delegation is currently in Washington, where it is holding preliminary meetings with American defense companies, including air defense manufacturers, and energy companies. It includes Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Deputy Foreign Minister, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, and other government officials.
About global sanctions and the situation in Belarus
Zelensky also informed about a thorough report by the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine on the impact of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“And regarding how global sanctions affect Russia and lead Russia exactly where it needs to be, so that they lose their aggressive potential there. We know how to increase pressure, to do this,” he noted.
Separately, they discussed the situation in Belarus, which the Kremlin is increasingly trying to drag into the war. Zelensky said that partners would be informed about these Russian plans.
“The Russians have already taken away Belarusian sovereignty, and now they want to use Belarus in their games to continue the war. We will definitely warn our partners about this,” he explained.
The situation at the front
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Chief of the General Staff reported on the situation at the front and in the border areas. The President noted that the most difficult areas are known, and Ukrainian soldiers are doing everything possible to protect the state.
“It is quite clear in which areas it is most difficult now, and it is important that our units, our soldiers do their utmost to protect the state. Every counter-offensive step by Ukraine on the front line now strengthens our positions globally, and this helps, in particular, in the dialogue with our key partners ” Zelensky explained.
Diplomatic work with partners
According to Zelensky, on October 15, government representatives continued their political work on the European front. The President spoke about a conversation with the Prime Minister of Greece, during which the parties discussed strengthening energy cooperation and other significant steps for our stability. In particular, the possibility of supplying American gas is being discussed.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine continues to work with partners in Central and Southern Europe within the framework of the PURL program, which allows for the purchase of American weapons. “It is important that countries join this program. There is already good news in this regard from the countries of Northern Europe,” he stressed.
New sanctions package from Britain
The president thanked the UK for adopting a new package of sanctions against individuals and companies helping Russia wage war. The list includes dozens of people and Russian oil-carrying vessels.
“We will definitely synchronize this package within our jurisdiction and work to ensure that other partners equally pressure Russia for a real end to the war. Putin should earn less, and then there will be more security in the world. And things like “Patriots” and “Tomahawks” can lay a long-term foundation for peace. I thank everyone who is with Ukraine!” – emphasized Zelensky.

the possibility of transferring Patriot air defense systems and Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. According to him, preliminary outlines of solutions that could strengthen Ukrainian defense have already been determined.

I fully agree with that strategy. It’s one that works quite well. It’s the most potent type of sanction, and the one that can get the vampire on its knees. Many more refineries and oil depots must go up in flames and those already hit but still working, must be, too.
