President Volodymyr Zelensky says that because of the war in Ukraine, many countries in Asia, Africa and even Europe may have problems accessing basic products.
The head of state said this in an address to the participants of the G7 summit.
He stressed that the Ukrainian cities – Mariupol, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Akhtyrka and others – look like a global catastrophe has occurred.
“But this is true: a global catastrophe has occurred! Russia has destroyed the global security architecture, dealt a powerful blow to international relations. But this is only the beginning. This war may be followed by a global food crisis. The longer there is no peace on Ukrainian soil, the less food will be from Ukraine will receive the world market,” Zelensky said.
In his opinion, in many countries of Asia, Africa, even Europe, there may be extreme problems with access to basic products with food prices.
“This will definitely end in political destabilization. Maybe this is also the goal of the Russian leadership? I don’t know,” the President of Ukraine added.
Earlier, the NBU warned that if the fighting in Ukraine drags on and the sowing campaign fails, the world will face a serious surge in food prices .
