At the G7 summit in France, Europeans “foisted” harmful ideas on US President Donald Trump about continuing the war in Ukraine, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated in an interview with Russian media.

He added that the head of the White House was convinced that the situation on the battlefield was changing in Kyiv’s favor, which is not true.

“The Ukrainian issue was actively discussed during the G7 summit. As one might expect, Trump was pumped with, I would say, probably unhelpful, if not harmful, ideas,” Ushakov stated.

Ushakov noted that since the G7 summit, the Kremlin has not yet had contact with the Trump administration.

Putin’s aide added that “Europeans are exerting a negative influence” on the US president, but Trump is “a strong politician and adheres to his views.”

“The Europeans insist that the war must continue. They are guided by the completely erroneous belief that the situation on the battlefield is supposedly changing in favor of Ukrainian forces, which is categorically untrue,” Ushakov added.

According to an aide to the Russian dictator, Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine negotiations, Steve Witkoff, and the White House’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will visit Russia soon. He added that they are continuing to work on the Iran deal, so the exact date of their visit has not yet been determined.
