Kremlin representatives and the leadership of Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party have begun preparations for a meeting to discuss the resumption of gas supplies to Germany, Reuters reported , citing sources.

According to the agency’s sources, the upcoming meeting will be attended by Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian president’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, as well as AfD co-chairs Alisa Weidel and Tino Hrupalla. This meeting could take place in March of next year.

One of the agency’s sources noted that the meeting will only take place if a framework peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is first agreed upon. He added that the organizers of the meeting hope it will unite the AfD, Russia, and the United States.

Israel, the UAE or India were mentioned as possible locations for this meeting, the agency’s source added.

One of the agency’s sources added that the organizers had hoped that US Special Presidential Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would also attend the meeting. However, a senior US official told reporters that Witkoff and Kushner had not been informed of the proposed summit and had not received an invitation.

According to one of the agency’s sources, the AfD hopes that this meeting will demonstrate its competence in foreign policy and will paint the German government in an unfavorable light due to “inaction in addressing the problem of high energy prices.”Read also:

AfD promised to stop aiding Ukraine

Earlier, Alice Weidel, leader of the far-right German party Alternative for Germany (AfD), stated that her party wants to stop providing financial and military aid to Ukraine. She also promised to demand the return of significant sums from Ukraine.

In addition, the AfD leader called for the cancellation of payments for some Ukrainians in Germany, especially those liable for military service.
