One of the NPP workers needed medical assistance.

The International Atomic Energy Agency reported that unmanned aerial vehicles attacked a substation near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant .
This is stated in the statement of the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi. According to him, as a result, ZNPP workers were injured, and forest fires also occurred. “These repeated drone attacks pose a threat to nuclear safety and human life and must be stopped,” the statement said.
It is noted that on the day of the incident, IAEA experts saw thick smoke and heard explosions from the distribution device. The substation is located outside the ZNPP site itself, so there were no consequences for it. The plant’s only remaining 750 kV transmission line supplies the power needed to cool the six reactors during cold shutdown, as well as other critical functions, the statement said.
In addition, three UAV strikes were recorded near the city of Energodar since 10:40 a.m. One of the electrical substations was hit, as a result of which eight workers were injured. One of them needed medical help.
“The alleged impact also caused oil to leak from at least one of the substation’s two transformers, damaging the top of one of them as well as a connecting line. As a result, the affected Raduga substation is currently out of service, but Energodar and the adjacent industrial zone are still receiving electricity,” the message says.
The situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP
At the end of June, the IAEA reported the destruction of an external radiation monitoring station near the station. This happened as a result of shelling and fire.
The agency also said that recently Energodar was left without electricity for 16 hours after reports of drone strikes on the Raduga and Luch substations.
