The head of the German Navy said that Ukraine “lost Crimea forever” and praised Putin

The head of the German Naval Forces , Kai-Achim Schönbach, said that Ukraine would allegedly never return the Russian-occupied Crimea.

This was discussed during the conference of the Indian Institute for Defense Studies named after Manohar Parrikar.

At the same time, Schönbach noted that although Germany “needs” Russia, Berlin does not agree with the Kremlin’s policy.

“Russia is an old country, Russia is an important country … we need Russia. It is a big country, but this country is not a democracy in our opinion … Of course, we cannot agree with what Russia is doing, both in Chechnya and in other points where the situation must be resolved. And yes, this also applies to what happened in Ukraine. The Crimean peninsula is lost. It will never return. This is a fact. And we must understand that political issues are factual issues,” he answered.

The German commander is convinced that the occupation of “at least Donbass” by Russian troops prevents Ukraine from joining NATO.

Whereas he opposed the admission of Georgia into the Alliance: “It’s not the same as with the Baltic states, because they were sovereign countries before Russia retreated from them.”

According to Schoenbach, Putin’s goal is “not a small strip of Ukrainian land,” but to split the EU and restore the respect it probably deserves.

Occupation of Crimea by Russia

Russia occupied the Ukrainian Crimea, bringing its military to the peninsula and organizing a pseudo-referendum on its self-determination in March 2014. The self-proclaimed Crimean authorities stated that 9 6.77% of the inhabitants of the peninsula were in favor of annexing Crimea to the Russian Federation.

On March 18, 2014, the so-called “agreement” on the admission of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation was signed in the Kremlin.

Western countries did not recognize the annexation of Crimea and imposed sanctions against Russia.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially announced the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea on February 20, 2014. Since the beginning of the occupation on the peninsula, more than 100 Ukrainians have become “captives of the Kremlin.”

Since the occupation of Crimea in 2014, Russia has been conducting regular military exercises on the peninsula and in the Black Sea, as well as importing military equipment, in particular, air defense systems.

The General Staff of Ukraine  calls the actions of the Russian military  in Crimea illegal.

In December 2019, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on Russia to withdraw its troops from the annexed Crimea and end the temporary occupation of the territory of Ukraine.

  1. Seriously now, who gives a rat’s ass what a little geek from a third-rate navy from a pro-mafia country has to blather? I will go back and watch my paint dry. That’s more fulfilling.

    • Nazi scum never went away did they?
This Hun is pig ignorant too. Georgia is a real country. Unlike putlerstan, which is an artificial construct built by invasion, occupation, thieving and genocide.
In fact Georgia is the second oldest continuously Christian country in the world. Only Armenia is older. I predict Georgia will still be around long after putlerstan has been neutralised and broken up into its original components.

  2. With a DICK like that, who gives a crap about NATO. PUTIN GOT HIS WISH. He sowed dissension with in NATO. I think what the UK has proposed (a trilateral alliance between Britain, Poland and Ukraine) is the way to go IMHO As long as the US has an idiot in the WH not much Ukraine can do but create a separate alliance with countries threatened by the Ruskie dick. IMHO.

  3. A small strip of Ukrainian land ?

This imbecile might be singing a different tune if it was a small strip of Eastern Germany.

    • Of course he says he disagrees with Putin’s policies and doesn’t consider Russia democratic and didn’t lift a finger to stop Putin, but agrees Ukraine can’t enter NATO because of the illegal occupation. He might as well wear a Russian uniform. Fuckingpussy.

  4. Naval chief Schönbach triggers a diplomatic crisis with trivializing statements about the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Now he is taking the consequences and asking for his release. His successor has already been determined.

Against the background of the Ukraine conflict, a leading German military officer has caused irritation with statements about Russia and must therefore vacate his post. The Ministry of Defense informed the representatives in the Bundestag. The Vice Admiral and Chief of the German Navy, Kay-Achim Schönbach, will be relieved “at his own request” and replaced by Rear Admiral Jan Christian Kaack.
