On the night of October 22, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of strategic targets in Russia. The targets of the strikes were an ammunition production plant and an oil refinery.
Explosions were recorded on the territory of enterprises. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Results of the drone attack
According to the General Staff, strikes on strategic objects on the territory of the Russian Federation were carried out as part of reducing the military-economic potential of the Russian aggressor.
In particular, suicide drones attacked the Saransk Mechanical Plant in the Republic of Mordovia. Explosions were recorded on the territory of the enterprise. The plant produces anti-personnel engineering ammunition and mine sets, ammunition detonators and initiation units.
In addition, the Makhachkala Oil Refinery in the Republic of Dagestan was hit. One of the processing units on the territory of the enterprise was hit.
The main purpose of the plant is to provide fuel and store it in the area of the Caspian Fleet naval base and refuel military vessels of the Russian occupiers. The annual processing volume is up to 1 million tons. The extent of the damage is being clarified.
“The defense forces continue to take all measures to undermine the military-economic potential of the Russian aggressor and force the Russian Federation to cease armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff said.
OBOZ.UA sources in Ukrainian intelligence reported that the refinery in Dagestan was attacked by drones of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The facility was attacked by UAVs of the “Sargas” unit of the Department of Active Operations of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
According to military intelligence sources, a facility involved in supplying Russian occupation forces was hit by Ukrainian-made drones. At least one of the drones successfully attacked and disabled a primary oil refining facility. After the explosion, a large-scale fire broke out at the plant.
“The impact on the Russian oil industry will continue and will constantly grow. Military intelligence will systematically drain the “blood of war” from the aggressor,” a source in the Ministry of Defense’s GUR noted.
As a reminder, on October 22, suicide drones attacked the city of Saransk (Republic of Mordovia, Russian Federation). The target of the strikes was the Saransk Mechanical Plant. As a result of the strikes, a large fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.
As OBOZ.UA reported, on October 21, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ground Forces, the Navy, and other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, attacked the Bryansk Chemical Plant.
