Tykhyi noted that these words clearly prove that it is Putin, it is Russia, that is an obstacle to peace efforts.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s current statement about the buffer zone proves that it is the Russian dictator who is the root cause of the war in Ukraine. This position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was expressed by the spokesman for the ministry, Georgy Tykhyi, in a comment to journalists.

He emphasized that there is nothing new in Putin’s aggressive statements.
“But specifically now, at a time when the United States of America, European partners, and Ukraine are calling for a peace process, for a complete, long-term ceasefire of 30 days or more, such statements from the Russian dictator are very revealing. They demonstrate to the whole world that this person is the sole cause, or, as they say, the root cause of this war, and the only reason why this war is still ongoing,” the spokesman noted.
Tykhyi noted that these words clearly prove that it is Putin, it is Russia, that is the obstacle to peace efforts now, and it is they who need to be pressured in all forms in order to force the Russian Federation and Putin to peace and a complete, lasting ceasefire.
And as for buffer zones, as Tykhy said, “there could be a buffer zone on the territory of Russia.” He added:
“This is precisely why Ukraine has been conducting the Kursk operation there since last year.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga also commented on the statements of the Russian President.
“I remind the world that Putin’s statements about a ‘buffer zone’ come against the backdrop of active efforts to achieve a full and lasting ceasefire, stop the killing, and promote peace. These new aggressive statements clearly reject peace efforts and show that Putin was and remains the sole reason for the continued killing. He needs to face more pressure to end this war,” he wrote
