Most wealthy Russians have been selling their yachts for the third year in a row.
Rich Russians have lost more than half of their most expensive yachts, according to The Moscow Times.
“The fleet of Russian rich people suffered a complete defeat after the introduction of sanctions by Western countries. Of the more than 70 large yachts in the best of times, about a third remains at their disposal at the moment,” the publication writes.

The majority of the remaining yachts were relocated by Russian rich people to the UAE.
Only part of the Russian president’s flotilla was returned to the Russian Federation. According to the Dossier Center, Vladimir Putin had up to nine yachts – the biggest loss was the 140-meter Scheherazade , which was detained in Italy.
It should be noted that it also belongs to the former president of the company “Rosneft” Eduard Khudainatov. At Putin’s disposal remained the 82-meter “Graceful”, the 71-meter “Victoria”, the 54-meter yacht “Chaika” and the auxiliary vessel “Orion”.
Overall, about a third of the elite Russian fleet was arrested. Earlier, the 143-meter Sailing Yacht A of Andrey Melnichenko, the 58-meter Lady M of Alexey Mordashov and the 40-meter Lena of Gennady Timchenko were detained in Italy.
In Spain, the yachts Crescent of Igor Sechin, Valerie of Sergey Chemezov, and Lady Anastasia of Alexander Mikheev were detained.
The Russians were the least fortunate, as their yachts were detained in the UK and its overseas territories. Thus, the vessels Alfa Nero of Andrey Guryev and Axioma of Dmitry Pumpyansky were auctioned off.
Ukraine got almost none of this – only Medvedchuk’s yacht Royal Romance was transferred under the flag of our country by Croatia.
It is also reported that wealthy Russians have been actively selling their yachts for the third year in a row. Thus, in 2024, the founder of the holding company Stroygazconsulting Ziyad Manasir got rid of the yacht Dar.
Last year, Alexander Dzhaparidze, founder of the drilling company Eurasia, sold his yacht. We are talking about the vessel Come Together, which was valued at 70 million dollars.
“Former KGB officer and ex-head of Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Strzhalkovsky sold his 65-meter ship Ragnar ($85 million) in the summer of 2023,” The Moscow Times adds. Most often, the yachts of wealthy Russians were bought by wealthy Americans.
