Hetman noted that there are three options for destroying the Crimean bridge: air, sea and sabotage attacks.

A veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, reserve major of NSU, Oleksiy Hetman, believes that the attack on the Crimean bridge on the day of the inauguration of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could have a significant political and military impact. He expressed this opinion on Espresso .

He reminded that the inauguration of the Russian dictator is scheduled for May 7.

“You know, the Russians like to adjust certain actions to certain dates, this is their nature. This is not entirely correct from a military point of view, but sometimes war is a continuation of politics by other means, and it necessarily has a political component as well. If May 7 , just in time for the inauguration, to hit the Kerch bridge, I think that the effect will be very, very serious. You can imagine, it will be a holiday for us, when on the day of the inauguration, a message will come to all Russian publics that the Kerch bridge has already been destroyed.” Hetman stressed.

At the same time, the expert suggests that the propaganda of the Russian Federation can hide the information about the attack on the Crimean bridge and make it public only after May 10-11, so as not to spoil the “celebration of the sacred date of May 9”.

When asked how and with what to destroy the Crimean Bridge, the Hetman answered that there are three options: air, sea and sabotage attacks.

“If we say that there will be one of these three, then we will guess 100%, because there can be no others. Most likely, a combined attack will be used, because it will be the most difficult for the Russians to prevent it. I am sure that it will be some kind of diversionary actions, of course missiles , which we have, it is possible to destroy the canvas on the bridge with rockets, but the support must still be destroyed with explosives from the water,” he said.

Destruction of the Crimean bridge

In April 2024, the British The Guardian wrote that  Ukraine would destroy the Crimean bridge  by the end of the year. In its forecast, the mass media referred to high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Thus, it was claimed that Ukrainian intelligence is planning to implement the third “final” attack on the Crimean bridge, and that its destruction is “inevitable”. “We will do it in the first half of 2024,” said a source from GUR.

According to military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko, a minimum of 30 ATACMS missiles are needed to effectively destroy the Russian S-400 and S-300 air defense systems located in Crimea . And after that, it will be possible to proceed to the destruction of the Crimean bridge.
