The countries of the European Union finance the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, buying energy resources from the Russian Federation . In total, European countries paid for 1.5 years of military actions by the Russian army.
Although EU countries have begun to reduce their dependence on Russian energy after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, they still continue to import it. As of 19 October 2024, the total value of EU energy imports from Russia is €204 billion. In comparison, Russia’s daily war costs are €36.6 million.
Visual communications agency Top Lead has clearly shown which country paid Moscow and how much, thereby giving Vladimir Putin the opportunity to destroy and seize the territory of Ukraine.
Germany invested the most in the war against Kyiv – 28.7 billion euros, thus paying for 79 days of military action. Italy came in second place, having paid Russia 19.3 billion euros, thus paying for 53 days of war. The Netherlands came in third place. Amsterdam purchased energy resources from Russia for 18.8 billion euros, thus paying for 52 days of war.
The TOP-5 also included countries such as Hungary and France, which paid Russia 17.5 and 15.8 billion euros, respectively, paying for 48 and 44 days of war.
