There is a ban on services for reloading Russian liquefied natural gas.
The Council of the European Union approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia. The new sanctions target important sectors of the Russian economy, such as energy, finance and trade, and make it difficult to circumvent EU restrictions. This is stated in the message of the EU Council.
It is noted that the new sanctions provide for:
- a ban on transhipment services for Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the EU for the purpose of transshipment to third countries;
- a ban on new investments to complete LNG projects under construction;
- prohibition of the use of the Financial Message System (SPFS);
- a ban on access to ports and the provision of services to ships participating in the Russian war;
- wider EU flight ban;
- further import and export controls and restrictions.
In addition, political parties and foundations, as well as non-governmental organizations, will no longer be allowed to receive funding from Russia, and 116 legal entities and individuals are subject to sanctions.
Sanctions against the Russian Federation
Earlier, UNIAN wrote that the ambassadors of the European Union member countries agreed on the 14th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The media reported that the sanctions would affect the Russian gas industry, but the restrictions would not affect Russian exports of liquefied natural gas to the EU. This time the Hungarian government did not block restrictions in exchange for protecting the Paks 2 nuclear power plant project.
Dutch Foreign Minister Hanke Brains Slot stated that the 14th package of EU sanctions against Russia will include a complete ban on entry into European ports for ships of the “shadow” oil fleet.

Countermeasure. If we could accelerate sanctions at least as fast as the recent “incidents” at strategic factories in the free world (Berlin, Korea, Glasgow…), that would be great…
14th! I am not a specialist and it is undoubtedly easy to criticize behind my keyboard. But how many packs will it take before we realize that we are lessening their effects by diluting them over time. This gives the Nazis in Moscow too much time to circumvent some of the sanctions through their international mafia networks.
This attrition strategy works in the long term if you want to deeply undermine an opponent’s economy and eventually collapse it, but not for immediate benefits in the war in Ukraine. And this is what Kyiv and the free world need. There’s no “nuclear” effect with these packages.
We need to pause to evaluate everything that is still possible to do and deliver it all in 1 or 2 massive final packages. What objective are we seeking to achieve? As with military strategy, what is the plan? We are only increasing without game-changing.
That’s right. And, creating weak sanctions WITH loopholes will never work. It’s obvious that there still are individuals and entities in the West that are not to be harmed by those sanctions.
