The enemy is gathering forces in the area of the Kinburn Spit: what the Russian military is afraid of

11/27/2024 – Translated from Ukrainian via Google and OFP

Russian troops continue to strengthen defenses in the area of the Kinburn Spit.
The enemy is doing this in order to prevent the Ukrainian Defense Forces from forcing the Dnipro.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Defense Forces of the South, Vladyslav Voloshyn, during the broadcast of the All-Ukrainian telethon. According to Voloshin, according to intelligence data, Russia is actively building up military forces in this strategic area.

In particular, the occupiers are strengthening fortifications and transferring additional defense resources to prevent the landing of Ukrainian troops on the Tendriv and Kinburn spits.

“Most likely, according to our intelligence, they are accumulating forces there (in the area of the Kinburn spit – ed.) in order to hold the defense longer. They are strengthening the fortifications, transferring defensive weapons there in order to prevent the Defense Forces of Ukraine from forcing Dnieper, to land an amphibious assault on Tendrivska and Kinburnska spits, especially on Kinburnska, and to keep this very mouth of the Dnieper under control, The Dnipro Islands, for which fierce battles are currently taking place,” Voloshyn said.

It will be recalled that at the end of October, the Russian occupiers increased their presence on the Kinburn Spit. The enemy also transferred a division of river boats to Tendrivska Kosa.

The Kinburn Spit, which stretches along the northwestern coast of the Black Sea and is part of the Kinbur Peninsula, is exactly the bridgehead from which the invaders can conveniently fire at Ochakiv and the coastal territories.

It should be noted that the Kinburn and Tendriv spits are two unique natural territories located in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions on the border between the land and the Black Sea. These narrow sand islands are important geographical points that are of strategic importance for unblocking the Dnieper-Buzka estuary and reducing shelling of southern Ukraine.

As OBOZ.UA reported, earlier the Navy explained that the enemy continues to shell the southern regions of the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions from the Kinburn Spit. In addition, from this location, the Russians have the opportunity to attack vessels that could potentially enter the water area of the Dnipro-Buzka estuary.

    • I suppose the more roaches that sit around the spit, the less are available for combat in other areas.
