A rescue operation is underway in Kyiv after a nighttime strike by Russian occupation forces. The death toll continues to rise.
“Tragic news continues to arrive from the Darnytskyi district. 22 deaths are already known. The rescue operation is ongoing,” said Timur Tkachenko , head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMMA), at 11:00 p.m.
He said that 225 residential buildings were damaged as a result of Russian terror. Along with non-residential buildings, garages, yards and public buildings, damage was recorded in all districts of the capital. District administrations have already counted more than 5,400 broken windows and window blocks. Almost 4,000 – in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital, Tkachenko added.
During the day, almost 800 people and 162 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences. In total, the State Emergency Service, together with municipal workers, removed more than 2,060 cubic meters of garbage and debris from the damage sites.
“Search and rescue operations are underway at the main location in the Darnytsia district and will continue throughout the night. There are people with whom there has been no contact since the attack. Therefore, unfortunately, the number of confirmed deaths will increase. We already know of 4 children who died, the youngest of whom is only two years old,” the report says.
Tkachenko stressed that by targeted strikes on residential buildings, educational institutions, diplomatic institutions, and hospitals, Russia is showing its “desire for peace.” According to the head of the KMVA, today the occupiers damaged Feofania, a regional hospital in the Podilskyi district of the capital.
