The dead Russians are being made into breastplates: a veteran told about the horrors of trench warfare in Ukraine

Due to intense shelling, it is simply impossible to remove the bodies of those killed from the front line.

At the front, the fighters of the Defense Forces often have to sit in trenches and dugouts with the corpses of Russian soldiers due to the impossibility of evacuating them or at least pulling them away. Business Insider writes about this based on interviews with several fighters.

Thus, an American veteran who fought in Ukraine said that after the capture of the Russian trench, he and his comrades had to stack the bodies of the dead Russians in the manner of a parapet or sandbags – for additional protection and to prevent rats from breeding in the trench.

“We took the bodies of the Russians who were in the trenches, and then placed them on the opposite side of the trench, opposite the new Russian positions. It’s like hollow sandbags, that’s what we use them for,” the volunteer said.

However, as other fighters say, stacking the dead Russians outside near the trench is not the worst option. Sometimes, after capturing the Russian trenches, the Ukrainian military has to sit and sleep on sacks with the corpses of Russians. All because of intense artillery shelling, which does not even make it possible to take the bodies out of the dugouts, let alone evacuate them to the rear.

As UNIAN wrote, the Russian occupiers are not reducing the pace of assaults , and the epicenter of the fighting is in the Pokrovsky direction. As the Ground Forces said, the enemy is trying to advance deep into our territory. Soldiers of the 47th separate mechanized brigade are restraining at least three brigades of the Russian Federation.

We also reported that the Ukrainian defense forces managed to recapture a part of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region from the Russian occupiers . In mid-May, Russian troops occupied the northern part of Vovchansk and several central quarters. However, in recent days, the Ukrainian defenders managed to knock them out of the center. Russian soldiers report that part of the soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces in the city are surrounded and cut off.
