The Czech President said the reason for the explosions in Vrbetica was an attempt to hide the shortage. The prime minister replied that only Russia is under suspicion

The reason for the explosions at ammunition depots in the Czech village of Vrbetice in 2014, in which the Russian special services are suspected, could have been an attempt to hide the shortage. This was stated by Czech President Milos Zeman in an interview with Frekvence 1 radio station .

According to him, this version was voiced to him by the head of the Czech Ministry of Justice Maria Benesheva. Zeman also recalled that the initial version of the incident in Vrbetica was called carelessness when storing ammunition. The President noted that he is not a supporter of any of the three versions of events.

Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis commented on Zeman ‘s statement for Frekvence 1 as follows: “I explained to the president that the police are investigating only one version. There may have been more during the investigation since 2014. But I cannot explain why the president now insists that there are more versions. “

Zeman’s words were also refuted by Maria Benesheva, to whom he referred. “I have no information that the police are working with a different version of the investigation, except for the involvement of agents of the Russian military intelligence of the GRU,  she told reporters.
