Ukraine can destroy the Crimean Bridge if it has at least 200 ATACMS missiles . At the same time, it is necessary to neutralize Russian air defense and sink every ship that will be sent to repair the bridge. Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military analyst Petr Chernik spoke about this in an interview with the Chief Editor.

“I don’t know what will happen to the Crimean Bridge, but I’m sure that it needs to be submerged. Why isn’t it destroyed right now? Because actions that could be aimed at destroying it will not lead to the desired effect,” he explained.

Chernik noted that a single ATACMS missile hitting the Crimean Bridge will not lead to the desired results. In a few weeks, the occupiers will repair such damage, so there is no need to use the $1.5 million missile.

‘The Crimean Bridge is a large structure 18 km long, and in order to destroy it and make it completely unusable, you need to break several sections of the bridge, 300-400 meters. To break 300-400 meters, you need to use 70-80 ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles in a mixed cycle,” said the Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel.

According to him, it is also necessary to carry out an attack with hundreds of drones in order to neutralize anti-aircraft missile cover. Chernik noted that the most important thing is to sink every barge that will be sent to repair the bridge.

On May 17, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Security Service of Ukraine jointly carried out an operation in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The target of the attack was ships and other watercraft of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, but due to the work of Russian air defense and electronic warfare, other objects were also hit.

That’s a lot of missiles … very valuable missiles. I’m not sure why he thinks that you need to destroy such a length of bridge to make it inoperable, unless he also means unrepairable. Of course, the more that gets dropped into the water the better, but a large hole in every lane and railroad would be enough to stop all traffic, which is what Ukraine should strive for at this time. The rest can be accomplished at some other time.

    • We need some FPV to light up all the oil cars on the train side. Even if it didn’t damage the bridge it would still be really expensive for the occupanti.

    • Remember the leaked video conference of the German army specialists? They held the opinion it will take like 20 of their Taurus missile to destroy the Kerch bridge in a meaningful way. And that, despite Taurus having been especially designed for breaking up strong concrete structures. So, this is not an easy task, indeed. 🤨

      • I beg to differ, Mr. Gray, but it’s the Taurus’ warhead that makes the difference between it and the Storm Shadow/Scalp. The warhead makes it so desirable for Ukraine. It is specifically designed to destroy hardened targets.

        • Uh, I know, Mr. Facts. I’m sure I mentioned it here before, myself. Yeah, it would take more of Strom Shadow / Scalp missiles to destroy that bridge, that’s a fact. 😐

  2. Overkill?
Just think how many orcs could be marmalised with 200?
But most importantly, Ukraine needs an inventory of many thousands of long range fires. Essential for their survival.
Just imagine the poisonous shit in a putinaZi structure. The sea, which belongs to Ukraine, would be polluted for years.
Just do enough to make it completely unserviceable and then keep attacking the repair crews

    • I agree. But, knowing the POTUS, Ukraine must use their ATACMS very carefully. Who knows when and how many more they’ll get.
