β€œI am the boss, you are the fool”
β€œIf husband beats you, he loves you”
β€œOne person on the battlefield is not a warrior”

Try guessing the country where these sayings exist. The country had a kind of serfdom till 1974 (villagers could not leave their villages without permission). It’s the country that occupies part of Europe and wants to occupy more…

Yes, my grandparents were serfs in the villages. They even worked for “workday” units, not for money, and could “spend” those “workdays” for a limited number of products. And if you go one more generation back, it was much worse, e.g. my great-grandfather was executed in 1938, together with his 2 brothers, and hundreds of thousands of others, for being Ukrainians.

I wonder how many Westerners know these facts. Facts about Russia. And how many have illusions that they have changed? They are archaic culture trying to mimic the West but staying centuries behind in social development, and this is what they want to bring everywhere.

Yes, I know about this. And most of us in the socalled free world. Having learned history and all the news-chanels that are available. Including such from the war criminal at Kremlin. Yes, it is correct what you have explained. No doubt. And the world never ever may forget about the history, Butscha, and all the other things. Stand with Ukraina! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦

It still heavily influences the culture in the post-soviet countries, especially in russia. In fact, without this mentality, the war wouldn’t have started.

I was sure you were talking about the USA.

Grace Farmer Take any year randomly, and I’ll compare the conditions in the US and USSR. Even the Great Depression and 1920ties mafia wars are childish games compared to what was happening in USSR at the same time. America had post-slavery racism, but even that killed over 100 times less than the repressions of different nations within USSR. In 1980ties, getting a pair of American jeans was a huge privilege, and all would envy you if you wore them. And surely, in American corporate culture, the distance of power has always been short, at least in recent decades for sure.
