“The birth of Hitler and the devil”: the leader of Nicaragua scolded Zelensky and Netanyahu

Nicaragua has had close ties with Moscow since the Cold War.

During a speech, the authoritarian leader of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, called the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, “descendants of the devil and Hitler.” This is reported by Politico with reference to the Nicaraguan mass media.

“The government of Israel is headed by a prime minister who is the spawn of the devil. Why? Because he is pursuing a policy of terror and is [Adolf] Hitler. The prime minister of Israel is Hitler … just like the president of Ukraine is also one Nazi, another son of Hitler who wants to involve NATO in the war against the Russian Federation,” the Nicaraguan president issued.

It is noteworthy that the Kremlin promotes the narrative that Ukraine is teeming with Nazis, trying to justify the start of a full-scale war against the Ukrainian state. And Nicaragua has had close ties with Moscow since the Cold War, when the Soviet Union supported the overthrow of the Central American country’s regime in 1979 by leftist rebels led by Ortega.

Daniel Ortega has been in power since 2007 and is considered a dictator who imprisons all his political rivals and critics and takes control of state institutions.

Nicaragua was also one of the first countries to recognize Palestinian statehood in 1988. Last week, the country’s administration officially severed diplomatic relations with Israel, calling Netanyahu’s government “fascist” and “genocidal.”
