British comedian John Cleese has publicly shown solidarity with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, highlighting the extraordinary burden he has borne since the full-scale Russian invasion, and drawing attention to the immense pressure of continuing to lead, communicate and stand alongside his people every day throughout the war. Zelenskyy’s journey to the presidency is unusual in modern politics: before entering public office, he was one of Ukraine’s most recognised entertainers, building a long career as a comedian, actor and media figure with his Kvartal 95 production company and starring in the hit television series Servant of the People, in which he played a schoolteacher suddenly elected president a story that foreshadowed his real-life political rise.
In 2019, running on an anti-corruption, anti-establishment platform, he won a landslide victory in the Ukrainian election despite having no prior political experience, and has since gained international praise for his leadership during the ongoing conflict with Russia, regularly addressing both domestic audiences and world leaders as he seeks support and resilience for his country.

If anyone deserves the peace prize, is Zelinsky! The intense, unrelenting pressure hes been under to achieve either victory or peace is unimaginable.

Zelensky is a man of courage and integrity.
A great atrribute for a leader.
He is polar opposite to Putin and Trump who lack both and have no redeeming humane qualities.

A true hero for our age. In 200 years time people will speak highly of his legacy while condemning Putin and Trump to the trashbin of history.

If he was solely into his ‘billions’ he would have accepted that helicopter ride and been sunning himself for the last 4 years .. instead he has led his country, negotiated for help and served his people impeccably in too many ways to list .. I only wish the world could have more Zelenskys.

I hope he will live to see his country free from war and the withdrawal of Russian troops and a return to Ukrainian independence. I feel for them. They went from going about normal business to being at war.

One of the most dignified leaders of all time in my eyes.

He stepped up for his people not like some who use others to advance their personal agenda.

A post from John from last year :
The Financial Times of London writes, referring to Trump’s call with Putin :
“offered no indication that Putin was prepared to compromise on his maximalist goals to end the war, which amount, in effect, To ending Ukraine’s existence as an independent state, while rolling back most of Nato’s expansion West of the former Iron Curtain.”
Regardless of the wishes of people in those countries, of course
For Putin, democracy is the real threat.

Does this give us a clear idea of what would happen to the US if Trump were to get elected again ?”
