Ukraine’s allies have almost collected all the funds for 800,000 artillery shells. The shells could be delivered to Ukraine within a few weeks.

As Bloomberg notes  , the exact timing will depend on contracts and delivery schedules.

The Czech Republic will act as an intermediary between governments willing to finance the purchase of ammunition, which will then be sent to Ukraine. Czech President Petr Pavel told the Munich Security Conference last month that his country had identified 500,000 155mm rounds and 300,000 122mm rounds that could be delivered within weeks if the money is allocated.

Ammunition for Ukraine – details

Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Denmark, Canada and France support the Czech Republic’s plan to purchase ammunition outside the European Union, and Poland has expressed interest. A separate discussion of the details is expected to take place this week, with the participation of EU defense and foreign ministers.

Germany decided to join the Czech initiative , which provides for the purchase of 800,000 ammunition for Ukraine. This was stated in Berlin by the representative of the German government, Steffen Hebestrei.

It is estimated that Ukraine needs at least 200,000 shells per month to continue the fight. The average daily use of shells by Russian troops could be three to five times higher than the capabilities of Ukrainian troops.

  1. I thought that everyone would literally jump on the opportunity to purchase this ammo for Ukraine. Three weeks later, it’s almost done. 😠

  2. I love the terms ‘almost’, ‘soon’, ‘probably’, ‘in the near future’… etc. Fuck that!

    • Yeah, it’s infuriating, Mike. And I can only imagine what the Ukrainian soldiers in the trenches think about this bureaucratic snafu. Grrr. 😡

  3. “200,000 shells per month to continue the fight.”

A clarification which seems important to me to understand the issue of the quantities of shells cited in the article according to the strategies.

From what I have read, 200,000/month is the number of shells needed to support a major offensive. And 70000-90000/month is the minimum amount of shells needed to maintain the war defensively.

Otherwise, these shells are for the moment somewhat abstract numbers and letters. I will be reassured when they are lined up in Ukrainian guns with the appropriate modular charge.

May the Nazis in the Kremlin all burn in hell!
