In Sumy region, the Ukrainian army is advancing, liberating our territories from Russian invaders. Out of 18 occupied villages, Ukrainian defenders have liberated six, and in two places they have reached the border with Russia.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference on Tuesday, August 12. The head of state also spoke about the situation on other fronts.
Zelensky noted that he listened to reports from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky and Brigadier General Oleh Apostol.
“Sumsky region. We had 18 points there – occupied villages or important points. Six were liberated. That is, we are moving forward. This is good news. At two points we reached the border with the Russian Federation again. We cleared another 900 meters in Sumsky region near several points to the border,” the president said.
Zelensky also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have advanced deep into the positions of the Russian invaders in the Luhansk region.
“Luhansk region. I won’t say which units, and I won’t say where exactly, because the measures are still ongoing, but we have advanced one kilometer into the enemy’s positions,” the head of state said.
According to him, the Ukrainian army is maintaining its positions in the Zaporizhia region and in the Kharkiv direction.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the most difficult situation in the Donetsk region is currently in the Kramatorsk and Pokrovske directions, where Russian sabotage groups have managed to advance in several points. However, Ukrainian defenders are identifying the occupiers, eliminating them and taking them prisoner.
“What happened there? Groups of “Russians” advanced about 10 kilometers in several points. All of them are without equipment, only weapons in their hands. Some have already been found, partially destroyed, partially captured. We will also find and destroy others in the near future,” the president assured.
The head of state emphasized that by making such an advance, despite the huge losses, Moscow is trying to form a certain information message before Trump’s meeting with Putin that the Russian army is supposedly advancing on the front.
“The task of this promotion is clear to us: to form a certain information space by August 15, before the meeting between Putin and Trump, especially in the American space, that Russia is moving forward, advancing, and Ukraine is losing,” Zelensky noted.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, made an important decision regarding the Pokrovsky direction. He allocated additional forces and means to strengthen the stability of the defense and destroy Russian DRGs. And there are already the first successes.
