The absolute majority of Ukrainians believe in Ukraine’s victory in the war: how attitudes have changed in 5 years

02.07.2026

The majority of Ukrainians – 85% of respondents – continue to believe in Ukraine’s victory in the war. As of now, this figure has increased compared to the data for July 2025 (80%) and March 2026 (82%), but is lower than the results from April 2022 to September 2024, when from 97% to 88% of respondents believed in our country’s victory.

At the same time, citizens’ opinions on the future borders of the country are divided. This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the Sociological Group “Rating”, conducted on behalf of the Center for Analysis in Polling Research (CISR) of the International Republican Institute (IRI).

In June 2026, 85% of Ukrainians surveyed said they believed in Ukraine’s victory in the war (the combined answers were “definitely yes” – 54% and “probably yes” – 31%). 6% of respondents answered “probably no”, and 4% answered “definitely no”.

At the same time, the views of Ukrainians on what the borders of our state will be after the end of hostilities were divided almost equally between two main scenarios.

32% are convinced that Ukraine will retain its borders within the current front line, and 31% believe that the country will retain all of the territories it had in 1991. Another16% assumed that Ukraine will return the territories it controlled before the start of the full-scale war (by February 24, 2022).

Less popular were the options of returning Donbass but not Crimea (7%), as well as Ukraine returning Crimea but without the so-called DPR and LPR (5%). Only 1% of respondents believe that Ukraine will be completely occupied by Russia.

As OBOZ.UA reported, according to the latest data from sociologists, the vast majority of Ukrainians today support the country’s accession to the EU. At the same time, the level of support for joining NATO has decreased somewhat. Overall, support for accession to the EU and NATO has been decreasing for three years, with the lowest point being April 2026.
