Russian troops landed on the right bank of the Oskil River and tried to gain a foothold in Novomlynsk but were driven out by the soldiers of the 10th Edelweiss Mountain Assault Brigade.

The Communications Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on this.

Russian troops crossed the river a week ago south of Novomlynsk in the Kupyansk district and tried to gain a foothold in the town, creating a bridgehead for further advancement on the right bank of the Oskil River.

Having a superiority in forces, the enemy provided support and periodically ferried their units across the water barrier by boat from Dvorichne on the other side of the river.

According to the DeepState project, after gaining a foothold, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to move westward toward the village of Fiholivka but was fought off.

As a result of the successful operation, the 8th Battalion of the 10th Edelweiss Mountain Assault Brigade managed to drive the enemy out of Novomlynsk and clear the surrounding area, regaining control of the coast. In the video, the soldiers installed a Ukrainian flag in the village.

For the Russian invaders, the bridgehead in this place offers advantages: a high slope on the right bank, more than 40 meters high, covers the landing from direct fire from Ukrainian forces.

At the same time, the holding of Novomlynsk by Ukrainian troops is complicated by the same geographical conditions that force them to go around the settlement and move along the bank, which is under enemy fire.

The height itself is important for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as it allows them to keep a large part of the left bank under fire control.

The other day, the DeepState project reported that the Russian military had forced the Oskil River to another place south of the village of Masiutivka.

In the future, these footholds could allow the enemy to develop an offensive, expand the penetration in the direction of Kupiansk, and cover it from the north.

As previously reported, the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade soldiers successfully fought off another large-scale Russian assault in the Kharkiv region.

  1. Watching the orcs offensive is like watching paint dry. Future military instructors won’t be using the orc tactics as a reference. I’m sure they will be teaching the tactics used by the Ukrainians, especially in the use of drones.

    • I can’t imagine any army worth its salt using orc methods in any war or conflict and not using everything Ukraine did.
The AFU has moved to the top of the military heap, it’s the tip of the spear, the epitome of the world’s fighting forces.

      • The problem is we still have a certain arrogance in the West, that Ukraine know nothing. I’m especially thinking about the US general that stated drones will never do anything on the battlefield.

        • That’s true. The West is deeply arrogant, despite the superhuman achievements that Ukraine has achieved. But, at least secretly, they must be forced to admit to Ukraine’s efficacy. Any sane person does.
