Telegram blocked the official chat bot of the Freedom of Russia legion. The military also announced blocking a number of Ukrainian chat bots.

“Not only our bot, but also a number of other official chat bots of armed units and government agencies of Ukraine came under attack. Your information is safe and will not fall into the hands of security forces: the chat bot is only an information page and does not save your data,” it says in a statement from the legion.

They urged people who try to contact them to use only official channels, recalling that Russian intelligence services are massively creating clone bots.

Blocking bots in Telegram: what is known

This evening, reports appeared online that Telegram blocked Ukrainian chat bots that collected data on the location of troops and facilities of the Russian occupiers. 

It was reported that the “Evorog” bot, launched by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in 2022, as well as the bot of the Security Service of Ukraine were blocked. It is worth noting that Ukrainian services and ministries did not confirm or comment on this information.

As you know, recently in Ukraine the question of the possibility of blocking  the messenger has been repeatedly raised .
