TASS: Russia may formally annex the occupied territories of Ukraine on September 30

Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly may take place on September 30, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in parliament.

A RIA Novosti source said that a “protocol event” will be held that day, the level of organization of which indicates the presence of the president.

TASS, citing a source in the State Duma , reports that on this day “the procedure for the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russia” may take place.

TASS also reported that on September 28, the State Duma will consider bills on “joining Russia” with the occupied territories of Ukraine.

A source in the Federation Council told RIA Novosti that the chamber could consider “an agreement and a law on the entry of new subjects into the Russian Federation” on September 29.

According to Nestka’s sources , Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly may be similar to the events of 2014, when, before the annexation of Crimea, the president delivered a speech in the Georgievsky Hall of the Kremlin in the presence of State Duma deputies and senators, and then signed an agreement on the admission of Crimea to Russia.

Russia plans to annex the occupied territories of Ukraine following the “referendums on joining Russia” held there at the end of September, despite the fact that when announcing the start of the “special operation”, Putin spoke about the absence of plans to occupy Ukrainian lands. The Ukrainian authorities say that this will not affect their intention to liberate their territory.

The President of Russia must address the Federal Assembly with an annual message on the state of affairs in the country. In recent years, it took place in the first months of the year. In February, a week before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Putin announced work on a message, but the event was never scheduled.

  1. It’s a completely useless effort. As soon as the UA forces retake those regions, everything will be back to the way they should be.

    • There are a couple of issues of concern here facts:
1/ Trumpists who get elected in November are committed to taking his lead and blocking and/or disrupting aid to Ukraine.
2/ Ukraine’s ability to liberate Kherson before winter, or at least before the end of the year, are dependent on the level of help they receive.
At the moment it is not enough.
We know that weaponry is continuing to flow in from the US, UK and elsewhere, but they seem like replenishments at this stage rather than game-changing stuff.
I know that a significant number of British MLRS’s are ready to deploy and the operators are trained, but I don’t know what their ranges are.
It seems to me they need Reapers and ATACM’s urgently.

      • I doubt that the US will drop Ukraine, Scradge, especially at this stage, where things are rolling. And, it’s only a matter of time before the supply situation for the cockroaches becomes too acute in the Kherson region to continue the fight there.
