Ukrainian counter-attackers are destroying Russia’s plans and forcing it to hastily rearrange its battle formations

Ukraine is planning new offensive operations , as it is impossible to achieve victory solely through defense, said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi in an interview with lb.ua.
He emphasized that Russia’s strategic plan has not changed and envisages the occupation of all of Ukraine: only the planned deadlines, as well as the available number of weapons and personnel, have changed.
“Therefore, we will conduct a strategic defensive operation, while we understand that you will not win in defense. Therefore, accordingly, we will conduct offensive operations, fight to maintain the operational initiative, because this leads to the fact that the enemy is forced to attract and withdraw significant human resources, weapons, and ammunition in order to restrain our active actions,” Syrsky said.Video of the dayAd loading
When asked whether a turning point in the war is possible this year, the army commander said that this will happen under a number of conditions: achieving technological superiority, winning the competition of economies, support from the West, and establishing its own weapons production. According to Syrsky, Ukraine has every reason to do so.
“Transitioning to another level of technological equipment of the Armed Forces will allow us to reduce the direct participation of people in conducting combat operations, increase the involvement of machines, primarily drone systems. And, of course, further development of artificial intelligence as the basis for the effective use of weapons, increasing the speed of action, application reaction, and development of appropriate solutions,” the commander added.
The War in Ukraine: Strategic Perspectives
As UNIAN reported, drones have radically changed the nature of modern warfare, rendering the massive infantry-tank assaults that Russia has traditionally relied on extremely ineffective. This has forced the Russian military to seek new approaches, including moving to small assault groups and the use of motorcycles.
However, the Russian military doctrine as a whole remains almost unchanged . The problems of poor training of personnel and outdated approaches to conducting combat operations are not being systematically addressed. Moscow continues to dream of returning to large-scale maneuvers with tanks and infantry, although, according to experts, the era of such an “armored fist” on the battlefield has already passed.
