Switzerland allocates over $6 billion to Ukraine: Zelenskyy announced what the money will be used for

The President of Ukraine noted the peacekeeping efforts of Switzerland.

Switzerland has decided to allocate 5 billion francs (about $6.2 billion) for the reconstruction of Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced after a meeting with the President of the Swiss National Council, Maya Riniker.

“We discussed the international situation, work with partners, Swiss support and assistance. Thank you for the decision to allocate 5 billion francs for the reconstruction of our country. We have many promising projects in the humanitarian sphere, which we can jointly implement with the help of these funds,” he emphasized.

According to him, the conversation focused on children abducted by Russia in Ukraine. He expressed hope that Switzerland would join in working with partners to return all children to Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine noted Switzerland’s peacekeeping efforts and its consistent support for the citizens of our country.

The President of the Swiss National Council emphasized that her country strongly condemns Russia’s war against Ukraine and advocates for achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine.

Switzerland has joined the 17th package of EU sanctions against Russia – what is known

As UNIAN reported, Switzerland has joined the 17th package of European Union sanctions against Russia.

The country’s government website noted that 17 individuals and 58 legal entities were subject to sanctions. Their assets will be frozen, and entry to and transit through Switzerland will be prohibited.

The Swiss government said that the sanctions include those with ties to the Russian military complex. 189 vessels from third countries, most of which are part of the Russian “shadow fleet”, were also subject to restrictions.

In addition, Switzerland announced that export controls had been tightened for 31 companies, including those from third countries.
