Swedish investment firm Front Ventures AB has taken a 10 percent stake in Molfar Defence Technologies, a Polish-Ukrainian radar developer working in close collaboration with the Ukrainian Army.
This was reported by the Nordic Defense Sector on June 8. The firm invested €1.5 million (approximately $1.7 million) as the lead investor in Molfar’s first funding round, which totaled €2 million (approximately $2.3 million).
Molfar co-founder and chief strategy officer Maks Dzherikhov tied the funding to the company’s broader goals. “We welcome Front Ventures as our first investor and partner in Molfar Defence Technologies,” he stated. “Their support is an important milestone in our ambition to build a new radar layer for modern air defense.”
Molfar has developed a patented tactical radar designed for the early detection and tracking of small, low-altitude airborne threats. The system combines a multi-dimensional structural representation of targets with signal-processing algorithms that analyze an aerial object’s physical signature.
Patent-protected waveform and operating-mode functions are intended to reduce the radar’s chances of being detected and located by an adversary.
The company collaborates closely with the Ukrainian Army and is one of Poland’s largest suppliers of defense and dual-use equipment.
