Details: Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, said: “We deeply appreciate the assistance of our Swedish friends, who are also active participants in the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.”

Quote: “Thanks to Sweden, Ukrainian regions have already received tens of tonnes of equipment necessary to replace power grid components destroyed by Russian strikes. We now have even more resources that are needed right here and now.”

Background:

  • Germany previously transferred €250 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
  • In early September, Shmyhal announced that Germany would allocate an additional €250 million contribution to the Fund.
  • On 21 August, Shmyhal reported that the energy coalition had raised almost €507 million for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund since the beginning of the year. Nearly 6,000 tonnes of energy equipment had been dispatched from distribution hubs to regions and communities across Ukraine by that point.
