The ships of the company that owns the vessel are allegedly transporting North Korean ammunition, which Russia then uses in the war in Ukraine.

Swedish authorities have stopped the Russian ship Adler, owned by a company involved in arms exports to Russia . According to SVT , the ship anchored in Swedish waters near Höganäs on Saturday morning after it experienced engine failure.

The overnight operation was led by the Swedish Customs Administration with assistance from the Coast Guard. The National Task Force was also involved in the arrest, according to the publication, and the Swedish Security Service and prosecutors are involved in the case.

According to Swedish Customs spokesman Martin Höglund, the inspection of the vessel was still ongoing on Sunday morning, and disembarkation took place peacefully.

“The crew was very friendly and met us there,” he said.

It is noted that the vessel belongs to the Russian company M Leasing LLC, which is on the US and EU sanctions lists. The reason is that the company’s ships are allegedly transporting North Korean munitions, which Russia then uses in the war in Ukraine.Read also:

“This raid is one of a series of similar inspections carried out against suspected Russian hybrid activities or arms trafficking in EU waters throughout the year,” SVT emphasized.

  1. I doubt there was any NK weapons on board. This ship had left St.Petersburg on the 15th. It might have been on the way to pick weapons up.
