The leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya announced the creation of a people’s tribunal in order to convict President Alexander Lukashenko and supporters of his regime in the future.
“Our country has finally become a crime scene. I declare that Alyaksandr Lukashenka and his accomplices are a terrorist organization that must answer for their crimes, ”Tikhanovskaya explained the need to create a tribunal.
Tikhanovskaya said that together with the online platforms Zubr and Golos, which monitored the elections, the opposition developed a system for recording evidence of crimes. There it will be possible to upload photos and videos confirming the illegal actions of the security forces, and in the future they can be used in court. She promised the security forces themselves an amnesty if they report the crimes of their colleagues.
For December 20, Tikhanovskaya has planned “the most massive march with a statement of the people’s accusations.”
