The suspect in the murder of the current MP Andriy Parubiy was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region. The crime itself was very well prepared: the deceased’s travel schedule was studied, a route was laid, and an escape plan was thought out. Now the necessary investigative actions are underway.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram. He stressed that all circumstances of this horrific murder must be clarified.
The President informed about the detention of the suspect
“The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk have just reported on the detention of the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy. The necessary investigative actions are underway. I have instructed to present the available information to the public,” he wrote.
The Head of State also expressed gratitude to law enforcement officers for their prompt and coordinated work.
Zelensky added that he also spoke with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who reported on further procedural steps regarding the suspect in the murder of Parubiy.
“There are the first statements from the suspect. Further urgent investigative actions are now being carried out to establish all the circumstances of this murder. The entire team of law enforcement officers and prosecutor’s office employees continue to work around the clock,” the head of state noted.
The Head of State thanked everyone involved in this work. “The National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor’s Office – everyone is acting as efficiently as possible. Thank you!” he wrote.
Klymenko revealed the details of Parubiy’s murder and the arrest of the alleged killer
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko also reported that dozens of police officers from the Lviv region, the central apparatus of the National Police, and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine worked tirelessly to solve Parubiy’s murder. According to him, the resolution of the crime and the detention were under the personal control of the President of Ukraine.
” The alleged shooter was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region a few minutes ago. There won’t be many details now. I will just say that the crime was carefully prepared: the deceased’s movement schedule was studied, the route was laid, and an escape plan was thought out,” Klymenko noted.
He added that once again, police officers and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine showed a high level of professionalism. ” 24 hours after the murder, they were already on the direct trail of the shooter, and 36 hours later they were detained. More details will be provided by the police later, ” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.
Klymenko thanked the Lviv Region Police and the central office of the National Police, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office for the brilliant work.
“A professional and unified law enforcement system is the basis of security and peace in the country,” the minister emphasized.
What preceded
On Saturday, August 30, a shooting occurred on Academician Efremov Street in Lviv, killing 54-year-old Andriy Parubiy. A special operation “Siren” was announced in the city to arrest the killer.
The National Police noted that at around noon, a report of a shooting was received in the Frankivsk district of the city. The alleged attacker was on an electric bicycle and was carrying a courier bag. Seven shell casings were found at the scene of the murder, but according to sources, there were eight shots.
Later, a video of Parubiy’s murder appeared on the Internet, showing the politician walking with a sports bag along the sidewalk, while the killer was already waiting for him nearby. Initially, his identity was not established, but the Russian trail was being considered. It is not clear whether the shooter was an amateur or a professional shooter.
According to media reports, the alleged perpetrator had been following the victim for several days and had been coming to the politician’s house. Despite the warm weather, he wore a lot of clothes, just like the accused in Farion’s murder, which led to a similar “handwriting” in the crimes.

But the enemy will never be able to kill the ideals for which Andriy Parubiy lived and fought.
We walked together the Maidan, survived the hardest years of the war, established Ukrainian statehood. His courage, sacrifice and devotion to Ukraine will remain forever in the hearts of millions.
I express my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. Ukraine lost a big son, but his case will live until our state lives.
This is an act of terror, and it is a matter of honor for intelligence agencies and law enforcement to find and punish the guilty and those involved.

From here began the epochal честьní changes in the history of Ukraine, in which we together had the honor of being on the forefront. And it will be right that here Kyiv will give him the last respect and gratitude.
Every patriot will have the opportunity to come, bow his head in prayer and give the last respect to a worthy son of Ukraine.
