Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, says that the recognition of the “LPR” by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will be a violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and international law.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Stoltenberg said this at a briefing in Brussels on the eve of a meeting of defense ministers of the Alliance member states.

“As for the issue of Russia’s recognition of the so-called “people’s republics” of Donetsk and Lugansk, if this happens, it will again be a flagrant violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, since there is no doubt that Donetsk and Lugansk are part of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders. Therefore such recognition would be a violation of international law,” Stoltenberg said.

Also, the Secretary General of the Alliance noted that this would be a violation of the Minsk agreements.

“This will make it more difficult to find a political solution based on the Minsk agreements. NATO and I support the efforts of France and Germany within the Normandy format to find a political solution … And the recognition of these two territories as some kind of independent entities will also completely undermine these efforts and violate the Minsk agreements “, Stoltenberg said.

  1. Eight years of drivel, no signs of compromise or change. A superb fundament for Ukraine’s future. Why can’t Zelensky travel to Moscow and solve everything, concessions included. What kind of fucked up government is this? And Nato are a laughing stock!

    • NATO again shows they are anemic. They have everything they need to enforce treaties and maintain peace but they give weak statements written by Captain Obvious while dust gathers on their planes. No wonder Putin is calling them out, they couldn’t muster a frozen apple to throw back at the Kremlinals.
There can be no concessions, Ukraine has done nothing wrong except give up her nukes and trust the US, UK, France, Germany and China.

        • Nah, its what the people want and that’s Ukraine. Geologically too, which is what eventually drove the Soviets to logic and turn it over to Ukraine. Historically with Ukraine too. And the Tartars which have been there forever. They want to be known as Ukrainians. That’s your main beef with Crimea, right bro 😉 I know you
