British singer Sting, known worldwide for his song Shape of my Heart, sang his hit to the accompaniment of the bandura. Taras Stolyar, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a member of the “Cultural Landing”, sat behind the Ukrainian national musical instrument.
The corresponding video appeared on the Facebook page of Radio ROKS. It shows a bandura player dressed in military uniform playing the melody Shape of my Heart on the musical instrument, while Sting sits opposite him and performs his hit from beginning to end.

“It’s like Sting wrote Shape of My Heart specifically for the bandura,” the radio station shared.
Ukrainians were delighted with the performance:
“What a noble sound this instrument has!”
“Unbelievable. To the ants.”
“So compare the level of intelligence and development of the scumbags with their balalaika and us with the bandura.”
“This is something extraordinary! Taras and Sting, you two are a cool duo!”
- “All genius lies in simplicity and openness.”
- “This is what harmony looks like.”

Recall that Sting has supported Ukrainians since the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion. He often called for donations to Ukraine and donations to the victims. The singer also promised never to perform in front of Russian oligarchs, as he periodically played concerts for them.
OBOZ.UA previously wrote that Taras Stolyar also won over Metallica musicians by playing their song Nothing Else Matters on the bandura. The rock band published a video of his performance to an audience of 12 million.

The video can be seen on FB.
It’s very nice indeed. The old boy’s tenor voice is showing signs of wear and tear, as can be expected.
Sting and fellow Geordie Mark Knopfler are both staunch supporters of Ukraine. Mark has a Les Paul painted in Ukrainian colours.
The soldier playing the Bandura is the star here and is able to give Sting a five star accompaniment.
Tuning a delicate chromatic instrument like a Bandura must be quite a task! To achieve the achingly beautiful sound correctly, it needs to be perfectly in tune.
Thanks for the feedback, Scradge, and the info about the Les Paul in UA colors. I wish we had many more artists like Sting and Mark.
