One of the most depressing and dispiriting things I’ve ever witnessed. It really brought home to me the personal impact of Russian terrorism.

A sobering visit of UK Friends of Ukraine Parliamentary delegation to the village of Yahidne in the Chernihiv region.
From 3 March 2022 to 30th March 2022 the Russian occupiers locked in an underground basement in the village 380 men, women and children, the youngest just over a month old and the oldest was 93 years old. Over 60 children were held in the basement. It included the 1 year old grandaughter of a lady who spoke to us. 11 died, including 7 executed by Russian occupiers. Many children were held and tortured in incredibly cramped conditions, denied food, drink, medicine, light any toilet facilities and were also made to strip to t-shirts and boxers, due to how hot it was. Many of the people held in the basement also developed eye problems. Russian soldiers refused to let people leave and they weren’t allowed to bring any possessions. On one occasion a Russian soldier came in drunk and handed a young child a live grenade purely for his sadistic amusement. Dead bodies would lie in the same cramped room as everyone else for days.
Ukrainian forces would eventually liberate the small village of Yahidne and free the residents. They were met by a destroyed village and ransacked homes. For 27 days they experienced the medieval barbarism and hell that Russia wants to impose on all of Ukraine through their terrorism. Slowly, they are rebuilding.
It was the worst thing I’ve seen since Auschwitz and it brought home to me the reality of Russian terrorism.

Odesa surgeon 👨⚕️ Oleksandr Pylypenko died at the frontline, during another evacuation of injured soldiers.
He became a volunteer combat medic and survived a stroke, but this time his heart 💔 couldn’t handle extremely difficult evacuation and stopped beating…
🕯 🇺🇦
Olena shared a post from Ukrainian People Magazine:
On the front, during the evacuation of the wounded, Odessa surgeon Alexander Pilipenko, who voluntarily went to the front at the beginning of the full-scale war.
On the front, Alexander Pilipenko has conducted about 10,000 surgeries, himself suffered numerous injuries and survived a stroke. After the rehabilitation, Alexander Sergiyovych returned to the combat zone.
During another evacuation of the wounded heart of the doctor could not withstand…
By the decree of the President of Ukraine for personal courage shown in the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the selfless performance of military duty of Alexander Sergiyovych Pilipenko was awarded with the Order of Danylo Galitsky (posthumarily).
Eternal memory to a hero!

“For 27 days they experienced the medieval barbarism and hell that Russia wants to impose on all of Ukraine through their terrorism.”
Each minute of those 27 days would have been hell on earth.
Others were not so lucky: God knows how many soldiers, civilians and little children are still being held by evil putinaZi monsters.
