Ukraine’s military reportedly carried out large-scale attacks on various Russian regions overnight on June 6, striking multiple targets, including the historic port city of Kronstadt near St. Petersburg.
The reported attack comes ahead of the final day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the annual economic forum in the hometown of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as concerns mount over the safety of major Russian cities.
Local residents reported seeing clouds of smoke rising from the area around the Kronstadt Marine Plant — a Russian naval shipyard located approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) from St. Petersburg, Russian Telegram media channels reported.
The exact location of the strike was not immediately clear. Photos and videos posted on social media purport to show drones flying over the city ahead of the reported strike.
The latest attack on the region comes just days Ukrainian forces struck the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast in the early hours of June 3. The attack unfolded as dignitaries arrived for the 2026 Economic Forum.
The reported attacks come amid a wider large-scale attack on multiple Russian regions, with strikes reported on various oil infrastructure.
Photos and videos posted on social media by local residents purport to show a fire emanating from an oil depot in the city of Ust-Labinsk.
Port infrastructure was also reportedly struck in occupied Mariupol, with thick black smoke was seen rising over the port in videos posted to social media.

Smoke was also seen billowing out of a facility in Lebyazhye in Leningrad Oblast, although the target was not immediately clear.
Throughout the night, various western Russian and Russian-occupied regions issued air raid alerts warning of Ukrainian drones flying overhead. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that 376 drones were downed over Russia.
Explosions were reported over Uzlovaya in Tula Oblast and Sevastopol in occupied Crimea. Air defense operations were also seen operating near the city of Sochi.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin claimed that at least 12 drones were downed approaching the Russian capital.
Ukraine’s military has not yet commented on the attack. The Kyiv Independent could not immediately verify the reports nor claims made by Russian officials.
Ukraine has increasingly relied on domestically produced drones to strike targets deep inside Russia, particularly facilities tied to oil refining, logistics, and defense production that drive Russia’s war effort.
The latest Ukrainian attacks on Russia come as Putin dismissed on June 5 President Volodymyr Zelensky’s open letter calling for the immediate reopening of peace negotiations.

A nice goodbye fireworks for all the amoral creatures who slithered into the cauldron of devilry to show their devotion to the vampire. Zelensky tried to prevent this with his open letter, but the ghoul refused the outstretched hand.
